The San Ramon Police Department is committed to providing the highest quality police service to those who live and work in the City of San Ramon. We work in collaboration with the community and strive to maintain the highest level of public safety to maintain the quality of life expected within the City of San Ramon. We provide our service with a commitment to cultivating the public trust by respecting individual rights and striving to be fair, just, and responsive to the needs and feelings of our community.
The San Ramon Police Department officially began our service to the community on July 1, 2007, after 24 years as a contract police department with the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff. The decision to form the San Ramon Police Department as a municipal police agency was made to best serve the community and promote longevity for the members of the agency who are dedicated to professional policing in the San Ramon Valley.
Our agency is made up of 69 sworn peace officers, 20 civilian staff members, and countless indispensable volunteers. We are always working together to provide a safe environment for the roughly 80,000 people who live in San Ramon, as well as those who work in and visit our beautiful 18.2 square mile community.
